Cuttack: A City of Dreams and Dreams of a Life
India, a land of dreams and destinations, is my home for work and pleasure. My journey through this vibrant nation has led me from bustling metropolises like Bangalore and Coimbatore, to the tranquil beauty of my native place Palakkad in Kerala. Each city offers a unique charm and experience, but it is Cuttack in the beautiful state of Odisha that has seized my heart and dreams.
A City Known as the CITY OF NAWABS
Cuttack, known as the CITY OF NAWABS, has a rich history and cultural heritage. Established in 989 CE, this ancient metropolis has seen the rise and fall of empires and dynasties, making it a city of dreams and memories. Founded by King Markata Keshari, Cuttack served as an ancient military cantonment of Utkal, and today, it stands as a testament to its storied past.
Challenges in Bangalore and the North
However, my journey through Bangalore and south India has been dotted with challenges. The lone and sometimes vicious environment in northern India, characterized by Hindi politics, language media, and the Mumbai underworld, initially made me wary. The fanatic and harsh treatment I received in various cities—being called various derogatory terms like 'shemale,' 'ugly,' 'gay,' and subjected to heinous acts—pushed me to seek refuge in southern India.
My quest for a peaceful and safe haven led me to Cuttack in the beautiful state of Odisha. Here, the locals welcomed me with open arms, and I found a city that not only cherished its past but also embraced the future. Cuttack, with its vibrant community and friendly locals, became my home away from home.
The Beauty of Cuttack
Cuttack, with its population of over 606,000 in the city and 666,702 in the metropolitan area, is a bustling center of culture and commerce. It is a city where the past and present coexist harmoniously. The anxieties of the past are left behind as one steps into Cuttack, where the harmony and peace are evident in the friendly locals.
With an area of 43.7 km2 and a metropolitan area of 192.5 km2, Cuttack is more than just a city; it is a national pride. The highest elevation of 36 m (118 ft) might seem insignificant, but it is the people who make Cuttack stand tall. The city is a multicultural melting pot, welcoming people from all over the world and providing a sense of belonging.
Embracing the Odia language and the local culture, Cuttack is a place where personal growth and professional success can coexist in perfect harmony. The city's time zone and ZIP codes provide a sense of local identity, while the telephone code connects the city to the world.
Cuttack is more than just a city; it is a dream come true. The locals, who are among the friendliest I have ever met, have made me feel at home. The city's rich history and vibrant culture provide a rich tapestry of experiences, making it a place where dreams are not just dreams but a reality.
