Although Kolkata Railway Station is near Howrah, there might not be a direct train, so you may need to switch trains at Howrah. This route allows you to travel through the vibrant streets of Kolkata, but be prepared to check the current schedules and be aware of potential traffic.

By Taxi or Auto-Rickshaw

Hiring a taxi or an auto-rickshaw from Sealdah to Kolkata Railway Station is a straightforward option. The journey can take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic conditions. This mode of transportation is ideal if you are in a hurry or prefer a more comfortable and private ride.

By Bus

If you like to avoid the hustle of the streets, the East-West Metro line can be a convenient option. The nearest metro station from Sealdah is Maidan or Esplanade. Additional Routes and Tips

From Kolkata Station, you can follow a road from the station to Bidhan Nagar Road on the side of the tunnel. Walking down this road will take approximately 10-15 minutes and lead you to Bidhan Nagar Road. From here, you can easily reach Sealdah, which is the next station.

To reach Kolkata Railway Station directly from Sealdah, it's recommended to purchase a ticket for a train from Sealdah towards the main line or north line, which can be boarding on platforms 1 to 9. Deboard at Dumdum Junction, and then take a train to Princep Ghat/Majerhat/BBD Bag. After boarding, deboard at Kolkata Station. This route typically takes just 10 minutes from Dumdum Junction, but it's important to check the timetable and move accordingly.

For those who prefer the convenience and fast modes of transportation, booking a yellow taxi, an Ola, or an Uber is a great option. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Sealdah to Shyambazar buses 3C/1, 30D, 230, 234, and 227, and then take the K1 bus to reach Kolkata Railway Station.

Note that there is no railway station by the name of Kolkata. There is possibly a station on the western side of the Hugali river, which might cause confusion. From Sealdah, you can reach the Howrah station either by bus or taxi if that is your destination.

For a quick but potentially dangerous route, walk to the Bidhannagar Railway Station, and from there, you can see a railway bridge beyond the station. While this route is time-saving and offers a unique experience, please ensure you follow the paths and remain safe.
