Why Was the Universe Created? The Soul's Journey and God's Love
For centuries, humanity has pondered one of the most profound questions: why was the universe created, and what would prompt God to create us?
The Soul's Choice to Embark on a Material Existence
According to the perspective offered here, the universe or the Creator did not gratuitously create us. Instead, we, the souls, requested to be given physical bodies in order to experience material existence. This journey, while more complex and filled with both pain and joy, was something we envisioned but could not fully comprehend in our pre-existence.
As souls, we may or may not have had a previous place or journey with God. In this current existence, our goal is to learn to live for God and grow spiritually despite numerous trials. After this life, we will reside with God for eternity.
We human beings are likened to pieces of God's being—beams of light and awareness that still exist as a part of Him. A significant part of our journey is to rediscover God, enriching ourselves with divine powers in the process. Some people recognize this, while many others simply attribute their development to their own human progress.
Earth as a Place for Spiritual Growth and Redemption
Perhaps the entirety of our earthly journey and our look towards Heaven is to help improve God Himself, since we are all part of Him. According to Romans 9:20-21, there are several reasons why God is the creator and not the created. None preceded Him in existence, and therefore He is the creator by design.
The Bible also suggests that no one can truly understand the mind of God (1 Corinthians 2:16, John 14:28, John 12:49, John 7:16). Even Jesus, His son, acknowledges this (Isaiah 40:13-14). If God felt he needed to create the universe, He had plans for it that served His own purposes. He owns whatever He creates and can use it as He wishes.
Habakkuk's question poses another perspective, reflecting our fundamental right to question God in a respectful manner. One of God's greatest attributes is His love, as described in 1st John 4:8. Being the first to exist in a complete form and without loneliness, God decided to share the gift of life with those who would appreciate it out of love, His strongest personal quality.
The Creation Sequence from a Biblical Perspective
From a biblical standpoint, the universe's creation is explained as follows:
First, the heavenly spirit realms, including the three heavens (the first heaven being the physical atmospheric heaven, heaven 1; the second, the outer space heaven with stars and planets, heaven 2; the third, the realm of the angelic spirits, heaven 3). After these spirit heavens, came the creation of the physical atmosphere on Earth, which consists of five layers: the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and the largest exosphere (Genesis 1:10).This creation is a testament to God's omniscience and omnipotence, serving purposes beyond our full understanding but fueled by His boundless love.
Reflection and Moving Forward
While this perspective may resonate with those who share a spiritual or religious belief, it's important to acknowledge that not everyone may agree. If you find the content here challenging or not aligning with your beliefs, consider moving on without engaging in argumentative or debating comments. This approach allows for a respectful and open-minded exchange of ideas.
Ultimately, the question of why the universe was created can lead to deeper reflections on the journey of the soul and the boundless love of God. Whether one is spiritual, religious, or simply curious, seeking understanding and growth can be a rewarding path.
