Winter Predictions and Snow Enthusiasm in the Northeast
Excitement is in the air as we look forward to the upcoming winter season, particularly in the Northeast. Whether you love the snow and all it brings or you're like me—enjoying the warmth and heat of a more southern climate—there's plenty to discuss and anticipate.
Excitement for Snow in Syracuse:
I’m utterly thrilled about the possibility of more snow in the Northeast, especially for Syracuse, NY, which happens to be the snowiest city in the lower 48 states. Syracuse averages over 120 inches of snow annually, which works out to more than 10 feet! However, the last decade hasn’t been kind to our snowfall totals, leaving me hoping that this year’s winter will be normal, or even better, than usual. How refreshing it would be to accumulate that much snow again!
To get an idea of what might be in store, one of the most widely relied-upon sources of winter predictions is the Old Farmers Almanac. While their comprehensive long-range forecast comes at a cost, their free November-December issue offers preliminary insights. According to this issue, the almanac is suggesting a slightly colder and slightly snowier winter in the upcoming year. This minor adjustment in forecast is enough to make my spirits soar!
Switching to Two Differences:
However, you might be wondering, ‘IS IT AS COOL AS ONE WOULD EXPECT? THINGS AREN’T QUITE THE WAY THEY COULD BE—THEY COULD EVEN BE WORSE...’ Of course, you would run into hurdles or challenging situations, but from a distance, it’s a fascinating perspective. Imagine why one would be excited about seeing a loved one experience something significant from afar; it’s the joy of shared anticipation, even if it’s not experienced in the same way.
Or, on the flip side, you might be thinking, ‘IF I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN ALL MY TEETH BEING PULLED AND A BONUS-CHANCE AT SEIZURE, I WOULD CHOOSE THE ANESTHESIA, OF COURSE! ’ Well, that’s absolutely right. The potential for pain and discomfort is a significant concern, especially when it comes to health. Being pulled through a painful experience without pain relief is a less than ideal scenario!
Embracing Southern Comforts:
I, for one, am thrilled that I can enjoy the warmth and heat of Ohio, courtesy of my strategic relocation to Florida. The current temperature here is a comfortable 76°F, and it’s high time I celebrated this change! Weather can be a delightful topic of conversation, making it easier to connect with friends and family, no matter how far apart we are.
Looking Forward:
Whatever the winter holds, it's clear that the potential for more snow is exciting for those who love to embrace colder climates. My heart is set on the abundance of snow and the joy it brings, even if it means enduring the occasional inconvenience. Here’s to a wintery season filled with snow and sunshine—and all the stories in between!
